About Me

My background

Earthenrain.com Artist Hyonsuk Seifert Nov 2017

I live in Chesapeake, Virginia.  I am a very late starter in the fine arts world.  I found my passion in art after early retirement from 30, successful years in the banking field.  I am currently finishing up studies in Studio Arts.  I am a member of  Southside Artists Association, Suffolk Art League, TCC Arts League and Virginia Watercolor Society.  I  often feel lucky and blessed to be part of the most warm and wonderful people in the art community.  Both of these positions gave me an opportunity to work with many multiply talented and driven people who are givers of themselves to others.   Outside of visual arts field, I also have deep love for the classical piano music

My Experience

I stepped into the fine arts world in 2013, owning the basic set of graphites.  Then took two years off, back to the work field, just to realize that my career fields were taken over by competent young leaders of our future and I was most happy in the world of arts with the people who create art.  So I went back for more of the studio arts studies.  I have volunteered as the President for Southside Artists Association from 2017 and 2018.  I also volunteered as the Chair for the Artist's Alley/Va Flower & Garden Expo in 2018 at Virginia Convention Center.

My Vision

Copy of Old Master's in Oil

After trying several different types of mediums,  I arrived and found my ultimate pleasure in WATERCOLOR.  I find myself humbling each time I see great works of arts done by other truly gifted artists.  But that doesn't stop me from wanting to express my feelings and ideas in my work.  And now and then, it is recognized by few that share the commonality that somehow connects us.  They find a glimpse of themselves in my work.  And that is very rewarding enough for me to continue showing my art work.  I hope to inspire new artists.  And continue growing and deepening in enriching my ability as an artist, to express myself through my art.
